The Customer:

c2c is an award-winning train operator running services between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness, serving 26 stations in East London and South Essex. one of the uk’s most punctual and most popular train operators, they were named “rail operator of the Year” at the 2018 National Transport Awards.

c2c is owned by Italian-based Trenitalia, one of Europe’s leading rail operators and the passenger rail arm of FS Italiane Group.

Project Summary:

Design and development of c2c’s website including integration with multiple 3rd party data sources and services. 24/7/365 Support for high value public facing digital infrastructure to meet Dept of Transport requirements.

Overview:

Voodoo Park have partnered with c2c for over 5 years as their digital agency providing strategy, uX and design services for their entire digital product portfolio in addition to development services and ongoing support for their website.

Challenges:

c2c needed a partner who would help them overcome challenges faced when working with mandated rail systems and technologies, allowing them to

be responsive to change and create innovative digital solutions.

c2c also needed a technology partner to provide 24/7/365 support and manage their custom hosting set up at Rackspace to ensure that they met strict ongoing Dept for Transport service availability requirements.

Solution:

In addition to designing and developing the c2c website, Voodoo Park designed the c2c app and ticket vending machines user interface.

The c2c site integrates with multiple 3rd party services, including rant
and rave, Salesforce (incl. Livechat), Journeycheck, knowledgebase, Yieldify as well as Trenitalia’s ticket purchase platform developed by IBM.

Voodoo Park deliver 24/7/365 support with dedicated resource delivering a programme of monthly continuous service improvements.  

Outcome:

The c2c website has experienced no unplanned downtime since launch. ongoing support is delivered through Jira Service desk. c2c’s advanced annual commitment to Voodoo Park will see us partnering into 2024.

Voodoo Park’s strategic work for c2c extends beyond the digital team and we also work with directly with their customer relations, hr and Finance departments as independent clients.
