Project Summary:

Integration of the solution into the existing DBoard product environment

Overview:

With margins under pressure, fund managers are looking to increase returns by more effectively managing their Transfer Tax exposure. The risk of fines and expensive legal action is also a key driver.

Deloitte provide consultant advice to fund managers but needed a tech solution that would scale this service, create a new revenue line and also drive consulting revenue.

Challenges:

The design challenge was to create a solution that could be easily used by users with little or no technical tax knowledge. The User experience had to give enough information on liability to be meaningful without crossing the line into being legal ‘Tax Advice’.

The technical challenges were building a solution that would work as a standalone solution while also integrating with Deloitte’s tax suite DBoard.

Solution:

Our initial research showed that the favourite piece of technology used by Fund Managers and traders was the iPad. We decided to target this device for our UI and produce an iPad-first web design. This not only made the solution more attractive to end users but also helped communicate the ‘for Illustration purposes Only’ nature of the results.

We chose to use our Voodoo Framework for the back end to give scalability and to provide enough separation to allow the application to be exposed through the dBoard platform.

Outcome:

The design and build were complete in just 12 weeks.

The new platform has achieved record sales and adoption among existing and even new Deloitte customers.

Support and ongoing development of the platform is carried out by a dedicated Voodoo Parallel team.
